Toddler | Toddler-In-Training | Threes | Pre-Kindergarten
Each teacher creates lesson plans that include: Bible, Art, Science/Sensory, Math, Language activities based on the developmental level of their classroom. Lessons are planned on a thematic approach. The Bible is our foundation with Bible stories teaching the objective. Theme connections related to the Bible focus are such themes as: animals, ocean, safety, insects, space, farm, zoo, circus, construction, dinosaurs. The activities planned for art, science, math and language would be focused on the theme of the week.
Our classes have daily devotions each morning which include songs, devotional and scripture. Each month our classes attend chapel which includes song, puppets, Bible lesson.
Each class has a 30 minute PE class three times a week and a 30 minute Music class two times a week. These classes are planned for the development level of each age classroom. PE activities are based on games with balls, hoops, parachute, balance beam, running, skipping, hopping and much more. Music class exposes children to music styles, rhythm and movement, various instruments.
Toddler (16-30 months):
Enrollment capacity is 10 children with three teachers.
Examples of activities are: Language | finger plays, books, songs, dramatic play and dress-up Math | puzzles, sorting Science | sensory table, play dough, water activities Art | painting with various tools such as brushes, feathers, finger painting, q-tips.etc Fine Motor | table toys that require sorting, moving objects, painting, markers Gross Motor | Running and moving in our PE room, pushing and climbing toys in classroom, riding and climbing toys on their playground.
The toddlers have their own playground exclusively for their class. The ground surface is padded with toddler appropriate equipment.
Toddler-in-Training (24-36 months & 30-36 months):
24 to 36 Months Enrollment capacity is 14 children with three teachers.
30 to 36 Months Enrollment capacity is 16 children with three teachers.
Examples of activities are: Language- finger plays, circle time stories, home living Math- puzzles, sorting Science-shaving cream, color mixing, sensory table Art- stencils, stamps, easel painting Fine motor- table toys that require sorting, moving and manipulating Gross motor- construction truck, trains, large blocks
The toddler-in-training class goes to the bathroom every hour to help in the training process.
Threes (3 years and potty trained):
Enrollment capacity is 16 children with two teachers.
Examples of activities are: Language- books, finger plays, letter matching and recognition, flannel boards Math- sorting, matching, puzzles Science- sensory table activities, cooking Art- eyedroppers, dobbers, rubbings, collages Fine motor activities‚ using scissors, glue, markers, small legos Gross motor activities- large blocks, tricycles, climbing in PE and playground equipment
In our center times each child moves among a variety of learning activities choosing from art, table activities, home living, blocks, books, sensory table.
Pre-Kindergarten (4 or 5 years and not yet attending Kindergarten):
Enrollment capacity is 16 children with two teachers.
Examples of activities are: Language - letter of the week, journaling, stamping with letter, sequencing, rhyming, Math ‚ puzzles, scales, measuring, sorting, matching graphing Science- mixing two colors to make another color, magnifying glass, cooking Art-stamping, tracing, easel art, sponge painting, chalk, painting with various tools Fine motor- cutting, lacing, dot-to-dot Gross motor- playground climbing equipment, tricycles, slides, PE
The pre-kindergarten class is exposed to the alphabet using the Animated Alphabet. A letter a week is reviewed through song, actions and letter recognition. The teachers have been trained in teaching Phonemic awareness through Reading Readiness instruction. |
